To deepen our connection with our audience, we’re thrilled to introduce “Letters to the Editor,” a new initiative that invites our community to share their thoughts, questions, and stories. Every month, Ilaria Biancacci, Wempower’s founder and editor-in-chief, will personally respond to selected messages, fostering meaningful conversations about the topics that matter most to you.

9 Actionable Steps for Inclusive and Nuanced Journalism
- Start with Research, Stay Curious
Go beyond the headlines. Immerse yourself in the communities you’re reporting on by exploring independent and grassroots media. Read, listen, and observe diverse sources to build a comprehensive understanding of the issues and people you aim to represent. - Seek Out Underrepresented Voices
Representation matters. Proactively connect with individuals from marginalized or overlooked communities, including women, minorities, LGBTQ+ individuals, and those from different socio-economic backgrounds. Building trust within these communities takes time but results in more authentic storytelling. - Challenge Stereotypes
Be intentional about the language, imagery, and framing you use. Avoid clichés or narratives that perpetuate harmful stereotypes. Ask yourself: Am I presenting this person or community fairly and authentically? Strive for depth and nuance in your portrayal. - Let People Tell Their Own Stories
